Art, culture and creativity in the streets

The MUECA Festival is the International Street Art Festival that takes over the streets of Puerto de la Cruz with performances, shows and artistic events of all kinds. From theatre and dance to circus, music, film and the performing arts, MUECA stands out for its avant-garde spirit and its inclusive and participatory approach.

The twenty-third edition of MUECA took place from 8 to 11 May 2025, under the slogan ‘Coordinates of Joy’, and transformed the city into a vast stage where artists from different countries and disciplines shared their creativity with the public.

This festival is not just a cultural event: it is a social and economic driving force for the city. MUECA has been recognised by the Fundación Contemporánea as one of the most outstanding festivals in the Canary Islands and has received the Insignia Cultural for its fundamental role in the cultural life of the archipelago.

Programme and shows you can’t miss

During the festival, Puerto de la Cruz becomes a vast urban auditorium with over thirty artistic events spread across squares, streets and iconic venues. Most of these performances are free and open to all, allowing visitors and residents of all ages to take part in the event’s creative atmosphere.

The performances span disciplines such as:

  • Performing arts and street theatre
  • Contemporary and classical dance
  • Circus and acrobatics of high technical and visual calibre
  • Live music and sound performances
  • Urban art and design

Some of the highlights include national and international premieres such as The Genesis by Copenhagen Collective (Denmark) and Foscurí by Abubukaka (Canary Islands), amongst other innovative offerings that combine technique, emotion and humour.

In addition, there are themed areas such as Urban MUECA and MUECA Literario, where visitors can find design markets, talks, books, workshops and family activities, making the festival a hub for culture and community.

A cultural and social impact in Puerto de la Cruz

The MUECA Festival not only offers art and entertainment, but also boosts the cultural life of Puerto de la Cruz by encouraging community participation in a collective creative project. The Cómplices MUECA platform, made up of residents, businesses and organisations, works alongside the Town Council to ensure the festival is an open, inclusive and transformative space.

The streets are filled with colour, smiles and shared excitement, becoming venues for social interaction where different generations come together around art. The city comes alive, revitalising public spaces and attracting visitors who come not only for Tenerife’s sun and beaches, but also for its first-class cultural and artistic offerings.
